Hello!

First of all, I am sorry for the photos above which have the date stamp; that’s ugly. I enabled that feature on my camera for a project my wife assigned to me and forgot to disable it. Maybe I’ll get around to photoshopping it out. I hope so!

Welcome to my little corner. I am experimenting with Expression Engine, which is the CMS for this site, so expect to see some changes.

The photos above are generally from the Atlanta area: The Georgia Aquarium, Lake Winfield Scott, Alpharetta Greenway, and some shots from Preston Ridge in Alpharetta.

For you web folks, this site is built with tableless, transitional xhtml, and of course CSS. I want to make it fun for iPhone, but it does have some Fash. Doh!

Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copeland

Appalachian Spring, by Aaron Copeland, is what I’m listening to right now, on one of my kid’s iPod shuffle. Right now it is the ‘Tis a Gift to be Simple’ section - beautiful stuff. A soaring eagle. Soaring - soaring and delicate; from soaring eagle to wobbling fawn.

Ok - now playing again from the beginning. It starts with a rising tension going to a playful song, then to a “country” regalness, then some full regal stuff.

Anyway, I love it. Perhaps it is quite elementary for classical music, but it sure evokes the emotions, and sounds nice too. I’m more and more convinced that art in all of its forms, music, poetry, literature, movies, paintings, sculpture and all the rest are the pinnacle of human achievement. Really.
